I feel great!

You know the feeling, right? When everything goes the way you planned, and you have that sense of accomplishment that makes you happy. This was my weekend!

But first, let me vent a little.lol

So, it's friday and it's Valentines Day at the kids school. They each paint one heart and then give it to a friend. One of my twins was all happy because he got a heart from the girl he gave his heart to.

The other twin was sad, because he gave his heart to a girl but didn't receive any. Now I ask you: don't you think that the teachers should have a few hearts ready for situations like that? I mean they're 4 years old. Aren't they a little too young to feel this kind of rejection?! Anyway, my nephew made one heart and gave it to him. Because Valentines Day is also about friends and family and the love that surrounds us. He was happy with it!

*******
Saturday, after breakfast we went to buy the new camera. It's a Nikkon, it's huge, and now I have to learn how to work with it!lol When we passed by the books I told hubby that I was just going to see what books they had. And then I came out with these in my hands:

I'm crazy, I know! Hubby thinks so too! But he loves me you know, so he just laughed when I told him that I was ready to leave the store with 6 books by Nicholas Sparks, but then decided that 3 were enough because I wanted to read other authors too. ;)

After lunch, I started to clean the kitchen. You know, wash the walls, the machines and the cabinets. I cleaned half of the kitchen in that afternoon and the other half on Sunday afternoon, and I was amazed. You see, I was getting to a point in my life where just the thought of doing these things overwhelmed me and I've always procrastinate doing them. But this weekend I realized that they're not that hard to do and don't even take too long to do either. Although there are still things that are not cleaned, the kitchen is shinning, and this makes me very happy!!

Saturday, after cleaning half of the kitchen, I went to the living room and there were my 3 boys. Hubby and Diogo were doing some drawings with paper,

and Rodrigo was playing the new game (Nemo) on the playstation.

So I went to the kitchen again, and baked the cake

This is really a good and easy to bake cake, and we ate it after dinner.

Sunday, after cleaning the other half of the kitchen, I ironed what was to be ironed, made some more crochet and ate more cake!lol

This was a wonderful weekend!

I miss my hometown!

Hubby just called. Someone wants to see our house to buy it. Oh, I want so much to sell it! You see, if we can sell our house we will buy another one in my hometown: Cascais! So, I'm praying that the lady that is going to see the house later today can actually buy it! We are trying to sell the house for over a year now, but is just plain difficult. Darn crisis that is making everything difficult... Anyway, the real estate guy said that they would be there around 6.30pm to show the house, hubby will be there around 5.30pm to prepare the house to be shown, and make a few things like MAKING THE BEDS(!!) which we don't have time to do in the morning, and open the windows and blinds and stuff... I really hope the lady buys the house. It would really help us...

Soooo, tomorrow is Valentines Day. Not that it's an important thing or anything, BUT it's a Saturday, and everyone knows how I looovvve the weekends!!lol Tomorrow we are going to buy a new camera (YAY!!) and then we will be having lunch somewhere.
But this weekend I'm planning a few more things like: Cleaning up the kitchen real good; bake this cake - it's really good; do the general cleaning around the house; take care of the laundry; make some more crochet; and have some fun! Maybe I'll take some pics WITH THE NEW CAMERA!!!lol

Hello everyone!

First of all let me tell you that I have just finished the book "Nights in Rodanthe" by Nicholas Sparks!! This is the second book of Nicholas Sparks that I read and I just LOVE his stories and his writting!

A few years ago, I only read thrillers, stories where someone was after someone to kill him/her. But now, I'm so much more in the mood for romance. And I think that after reading all the books I bought last month, I'm going after each and everyone of Nicholas Sparks!lol
*******
Now, to real life!lol This past weekend was really a good one. I've done the usual cleaning around the house, I took care of all the laundry, I ironed everything that was to be ironed, I spent time with hubby and the kids and I also managed some time to crochet! I tell you, I have no idea when was the last time that I could actually do all this and more during a two-day- weekend!
This means that the house is not falling apart! Isn't that great? I feel that I am really doing some progress on my quest for organizing my house, my head and my life!!! Oh sure, there is still a lot to be done, but I am just so happy for what I have already accomplished!! Hubby is noticing it too! He actually came to me last Sunday and told me that it was better to come up with a menu plan for this week! (We've been doing it for some weeks now and it really helps!)
So yes, I'm happy! I'm happy because I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel: my life is, once again, starting to be under my control!

So, what have I been up to...

Oh yes, photos again! Let me remind you that these were taken with hubby's cell phone and this was really the best it could do. Now, let me tell you a little story:

Once upon a time (one year ago actually) I was really sad about my life. The house was messy, I felt messy myself; I didn't have the time to do anything I wanted, I didn't have time for ME and my stuff. Then, I decided it was time to change that. And so I started with the house, slowly putting it together: decluttering a few things here, organizing some things there. And then I started to breath again. But I still couldn't find the time for me and my stuff, because when I was at home I had to clean it and keep it organized. That's when it hit me like a bomb:

LUNCH HOUR ON WEEKDAYS!!!!!!!!!

I have one hour and a half for lunch from Monday to Friday, and instead of surfing the net I could do something I truly enjoy. So, 3 months ago, I attacked my parents books and found these

They are from The Readers Digest, and each one has 4 stories. I already read 3 of them, but before I read the others, I came accross these

and I had to buy them. I am now reading "Nights in Rodanthe" by Nicholas Sparks. (That's the second book, in black, see?)
Remember my pot holders? After doing them I wanted to crochet some more. Since I have so much white yarn that I bought several years ago (before the twins were even born, I think) to make doilies, I went thru some of my magazines and I found one doilie that I really like. So, I started doing it.

I don't know when, but it will eventually, become this:

That's a lot of crochet don't you think? But I think it is adorable!! I want to put it on our dinning room table, I think it will be beautiful. The kids are always asking to see if it has grown some more, but I think it will take me a few more weeks (or months actually!) to finish it.

Now my cross-stitch it's a whole other story and I'll tell you all about it some other day...

Praying for my husband

Day 2

Pray that your husband’s relationship with God and His Word will bear fruit in his life. Pray that he will be a man of wisdom and understanding, fearing the Lord. (Prov. 3:7, 9:10; Ps. 112:1)

Praying for my husband

Go to Diary of a Stay at Home Mom and join Sandra. This month we are all praying for our husbands.

Here's what she says:

I feel that behind every wonderful blogging woman I have come to know, there is an amazing man, they are the ones working in the background. The ones providing for our families, fixing what is broken around the house, giving us a hug when we're down, listening to our bad days, putting up with the constant flashing of cameras in their eyes (admit it, you tote that camera around just as much as I do LOL).

So I think they need to be recognized and admired and acknowledged for the wonderful husbands they are and what better way to do that, than to devote a whole month of prayer to them. Will you join me?

Embark with me on a journey for the next 31 Days, in which we devote ourselves to prayer for our husbands.

Day 1

Pray that your husband will grow spiritually and consider his accountability before the Lord. Pray that he will guard his heart by developing spiritual disciplines—Bible reading and study, prayer, meditation, scripture memorization, etc. (2 Peter 3:18; Prov. 4:23)
